For SDA or NOt?
Absolutely YES! Though the book was banned because of fear that Holden might badly influence the teen readers, but I do believed that SDA high school (preferably the senior years) can read this kind of book. I believed that SDA senior high students have a wider perspective of life and they are more open minded to cases like this. The novel's main character manifested a complex personality and he is so sensitive. It's nice for an SDA students to know this kind of character, especially in the field. SDA students are not just trained intellectually but most importantly for a ministry.
The novel shows a great distinction of a childhood and adulthood. The Catcher in The Rye will present to them a new view point of an adult life.
